A favourite pop song of the kind of supposedly cool ‘muso’ types who claim such music is synthetic and frivolous, it remains a radio staple, a frequent addition to 80s compilation albums and irrefutably, unquestionably, the best. "The Load-Out" is a song co-written and performed live by Jackson Browne from his 1977 album Running on Empty. It is a tribute to his roadies and fans. The song was recorded live at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, on August 27, 1977, as part of the tour in support of the album The Pretender.
